An example of an isotype switching. In this case, every constant domain gene between VDJ and Cε is cut out, making Cε the one closest to the VDJ segment. This causes the gene to produce IgE isotype antibodies. The genes for the constant domains are in blue, while the switch regions are in red. VDJ is in purple and is untouched in this process.
