For complicated reasons we write the CO2 as 0,03 x pCO2 when working with the blood. Because CO2 is a gas, we measure its partial pressure in the blood, rather than its concentration. The partial pressure of CO2 is written as pCO2. Because pCO2 is a measure of pressure its unit is mmHg (millimetres of mercury).
