Staining: HE
Organ: Kidney
Description: A tumor with an apparent well-demarcated border can be seen. The tumor has oval structures as the tumor cells grow on papillary structures. The tumor cells shows only mild atypia (pleiomorphism). Mitotic figures are present.
Upon closer examination of the border between the tumor and the healthy kidney parenchyme can we find some invasive foci inside the parenchyme.
Diagnosis: Urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis
Risk factors: Smoking
Theory: See the macropreparation.
