Description:

There is a small region of the grey matter where there are “holes” between neurons. Some vessels resemble these holes.

Diagnosis: Prion disease

Causes:

  • Infection by prions

Theory:

As prions accumulate inside the neurons will the neurons commit apoptosis, which leaves behind small holes between the healthy cells.
