Organ: Ovary

Dysgerminoma prep front

Description:

A large, whitish-greyish tumor of the ovary is visible. The tumor forms lobules. The cut surface is homogenous.

On the back of the preparation a part of the fallopian tube is visible.

Diagnosis: Dysgerminoma

Risk factors:

  • Nothing special

Theory:

Remember that dysgerminoma is the female equivalent of seminoma.

It’s not really easy (or even possible) to see that this used to be an ovary.

Dysgerminoma prep front. I’m not really 100% sure the arrow is pointing to the correct structure, but the fallopian tube is definitely visible irl.
